Prime Users are the only organizations authorized to request the issuance of MINCs from the MINC#NIMC system. They include all 12 medical regulatory authorities in Canada, as well as the Medical Council of Canada (MCC).
Prime Users are provided with a MINC system operation manual, a sign-on and password for the MINC#NIMC system and access to MINC#NIMC staff for help with problems and questions. They are the primary information source about MINC for the physicians in their jurisdictions.
Requesting issuance of MINCs
The Core personal data requirements for MINCs are gathered by Prime Users during their registration process. The Prime User making the request is responsible to make sure the data is true, accurate and complete for each individual before submitting it to the MINC#NIMC hub.
Submissions may be made by email; secure, internet-based access is available for both batched and single submissions. If a MINC is found to already exist for an individual, the Prime User will be notified.
Assigning MINCs
- Once a MINC is issued, the Prime User is responsible to provide the individual with the MINC documentation and a letter explaining the purpose of the MINC and how it will be used.
- The MINC documentation identifies all the core personal data of the individual submitted to the MINC#NIMC hub.
